Word of a woman that knows...

The Hunter's Mark today asked what music do you listen to while playing WoW, if any? I've been asking guildies this for a while now, some to the point they want to kill me, I think (Hey, that has to be the reason they drag my undergeared butt into Heroics).

Anyways, as my guild mates know, I'm largely into older music, most of which is older than I am. Fleetwood Mac, I have too many favorites to name. Queen, John Mellencamp (or John Cougar or John Cougar Mellencamp), Madonna, GNR, Def Leppard, Journey, and April Wine.

I also prefer some more modern music, heck, my hunter theme song is an Inkubus Sukkubus song! And I will go into listening kicks, listen to one band back to back until I tire of it, then swap out to another one. I recently went and bought a Journey album because that was what I was craving. If they'd had the right John Mellencamp in stock, I would have gotten that too, but they didn't.

Music for Raids and Instances? Easy for me, since my guild is not using Vent at this time. It would be a mix of GNR, Def Leppard, Inkubus Sukkubus, and April Wine, if I had the brains to mix a cd. My favorite 3 songs, one from each of the older bands... GNR - Sweet Child O' Mine. Def Lepard - Love Bites. April Wine - Sign of the Gypsy Queen. All three can be found easily on youtube.

Sweet Child
Love Bites
Gypsy Queen

And I was kind enough to track down the studio made video from Youtube. Some of the live versions just aren't as good. If you want to try and prove me wrong, feel free, but I've listened to most the live stuff too.

For just general running around doing dailies and chatting with guildies? Madonna, FWM, Savage Garden, Jewel. More mellow things. I don't need my blood pounding while I'm doing dailies, but it does keep my mind occupied. And my guy will stare over at me if I start singing to whatever I'm listening to. I don't even realize I do it until he's staring at me. And listening to the game and music through headphones... well.. hehe.

I know my play-list is largely inspired by my mother and what she listened to while I was growing up. I grew up with Fleetwood Mac, April Wine, REO Speedwagon, and Mellencamp as part of my daily life, which means its part of my memories.

Well, that's my music, what's yours?

How much is memory?

I'm asking myself this particular question after playing for a few hours while over at a friend's house for the evening. He has mods that do more that I ever though needed to be done...

Bars were all over the place (never did figure out how to move them around...), and I didn't have sound. I did how-ever have an updated Omen, so when I pulled threat away from my new wolf friend (yep, grabbed a wolf out of Badlands, dumping the cat) it would flash, so I knew to click disengage/feign death and let the aggro flip back to the wolf.

Anyways, I wasn't able to glance down and check, which button was which, check which aspect I was under - no it was not in its usual spot- or even use my handly little Hunters Mark + Pet Attack Macro. It was all by memory, and muscle memory.

I realized tonight just how much of playing a hunter for 3 years off and on now, is purely memory. My primary three shots are always, always at 4, 5, and 6. 1-3 are auto attack, raptor strike, and auto shot. I got into a bit of trouble, and even without my regular mods the shots were in the right order, coming off at the right timing to rinse repeat 2-3 times before the trap broke and the extra mob landed on me.

I'll admit, I died a few times while trying to complete a quest... getting ganged up by four things, then being hit by steath - while in an inclosed space will do it every time. But I had fun, and found out that the extensive raiding (six hours solid from Midnight to Six AM) and the general goofing off I did in highly mob packed areas -- Bone Wastes >.< -- served me in good stead.

I play under pressure best. When I know that if my trap fails, somebody dies -- THAT is when I perform my best, and every reaction and shot is pin-point accurate to the very best of my ability.

I guess having good reflexes is a good thing... I get to go back and do it all again tomorrow.

Blog Azeroth

Well, running around reading other people's blogs while you are trying to find a decent Prot Tank Paladin blog can sometimes lead you to stumble onto some pretty amazing sites!

I honestly cannot remember now how I landed on The Empty Quiver, but Caleria led me to an interesting forum for WoW Bloggers. So, I joined, and found that One Among Many and Pike are already listed on the Forum. Considering I read these two every day before school while sipping at my morning coffee, its a nice place to find. And, I think I might have found my Paladin Tank blog via Blog Azeroth.

Blog Azeroth is a forum for all those that blog about the game World of Warcraft, and our experiences in it. So, go ahead, follow this link over to the forums, if you wish!
